Appointments

Book an appointment online by following this link to the Patient Access website

The practice offers a range of routine daily telephone appointments from:

  • 8.30am – 11:00am  and
  • 2:30pm – 5:00pm

To obtain an appointment please

Please be aware that due to the increasing pressure on our service, we can no longer guarantee a ‘same day’ response to telephone calls unless they are urgent. Please let our receptionists know why you require the call so that we can prioritise these more effectively. All calls will be returned within 2 working days – as long as the requested doctor is at work on those days.

PLEASE NOTE: All GP appointments being booked via reception will be via telephone in the first instance. If the GP feels a face to face appointment is necessary they will organise this with the patient so we can maintain social distancing etc.

Extended Access

Fairfield Surgery, along with our colleagues in the Hastings and Rother Primary Care Network (PCN) is providing an Extended Access service to our patients.  This service runs from 18:30 – 20:00 every weekday and Saturday 09:00 – 17:00 and each practice within our PCN will offer clinics on different days of the week.

Fairfield Surgery offer the following appointments.

Wednesday – 18:30 – 20:00

GP – face to face and telephone consultations

Nurse – face to face and telephone consultations

The appointments must be booked in advance and are subject to availability.

Please note these appointments may not be at Fairfield and could be a telephone consultation. If you need to be seen during these times, please contact our reception team to check availability.  You will be asked to give your consent for the GP at that surgery to access your medical record.

Appointment options

We offer a variety of appointment options:

Book in advance telephone appointments

These appointments are usually available to book a week or 2 ahead and are general used for medication reviews or reviewing on going non urgent issues.

Routine on the day telephone appointments

These appointments are for those people who needs are not urgent, but who need an appointment sooner rather than later. To reserve one of these slots you need to ring up on the clinic day. Telephone lines open at 8am

When you call the practice, please provide the reception team with an indication of the nature of your visit, that way the receptionist can ensure that they book you in with the most appropriate GP and for the correct type of appointment.

Urgent appointments

We also offer urgent appointments for both morning and afternoon sessions.

Please note that, in order to provide the best care, we ask patients to only ask for urgent appointments if they feel their case is genuinely medically urgent and can’t wait until the next routine appointment.

Examples of urgent appointments include problems with:

  • Pain
  • Unwell Children
  • Infection

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

NHS/SSP certificates

NHS/SSP certificates do not necessarily need an appointment. Please telephone to check this. Please also note that no doctor’s certificate is required under 7 days of illness.

Home Visits

Home visits will be accepted for those patients who are unable to attend the surgery due to their medical condition. Social or transport reasons are not considered acceptable for a home visit by the doctor.

All requests for home visits must be received before 10:30 unless urgent and will normally be carried out during the lunchtime period.

We would ask you to pass the facts to the receptionist so that they can be passed to the visiting doctor. A doctor may telephone you in advance of visiting to clarify matters.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
